General Notes

Hello! I'm happy to finally release these maps, I've been working on them for a fair while and it's good to be finished.

Most of these maps are not designed for 'elite' gaming & tournaments - they are made to be fun, different & require some interesting strategic decisions. That said, they have been specifically designed & tested for online play & friendly competitive games.

Several of the maps feature play where one team starts in a drastically different starting spot - for example foothold gives one side an early metal advantage and the other side a mid game energy advantage energy adv, Surrounded & Pounded requires both teams to use completely different strategies. By this nature these maps are going to be unsymetrical or 'unbalanced', they should however be fair to each team and will hopefully give each an even chance of winning. I've done my best to even them and they've all been tested online a few times. If it turns out that one side has a large advantage I'll be happy to fix it & release another version anyway.

If your one of the people that likes maps to be perfectly balanced & symetrical, well, thats fine (Mabye you'll like oh the calamity :)), there are hundreds if not thousands of those maps out there which you can play & I'm going for something different and interesting with these maps.

I've included FFA versions of some of these maps, they are pretty much the same but with different starting positions & mabye a few more resources around the map, Forest Paths is a sweet ffa map. Also the wind speed is what it is in the ta editor, so 2750 works out roughly to 16. Also I'm hoping I've fixed this problem but if you get a "Windy Tree" error you need to download the latest version of Tamec.

Have fun playing anywho!

Details: This map is an interesting one, it's the islands vs the mainland, except that the islands have a (Decently defendable) position on the mainland. Battles tend to flow pretty well and when the east holds their mainland they tend to win while if they lose it they're in trouble. Teams who work well together tend to win on this map.

Wind: 1650-2750

Tidal: 14

Foothold

Details: The two sides here have access to different resources and need to adopt different strategies. the west has access to more energy through tidals and can outproduce the east in the long run. However the east in this map has more metal to start with - so generally gets off to a better initial start, and needs to take an early advantage.

Oh the Calamity

Details: This is designed for an east vs west team game but there are very different types of resources on the map. It's a low building map (Wind & Tidals) but there is a lot of metal in the south and a huge amount of thermals in the north, so you have to decide which you want to grab or whether you want to try and grab both. You can get some interesting game where one side might take the north and the other the south, makes for some craziness. :) The FFA version of this could be a little hectic (It's slightly redesigned with resources but sticks to the same general pattern)

Size: 9x14

Designed for: 1v1+, EvW, FFA

Wind: 400-1200

Tidal: 8

Surrounded and Pounded

Details: This is probably my favourite & I've had some problems evening this map because of the huge strategic differences in the sides. One side getting smashed & then turning around & destroying the other. - The people on both sides that won claiming their side had a massive advantage. It should be reasonably even & fun to play however. It offers a bunch of strategic & tactical options you can take and is very different depending on which team you end up on. I've had some awesome games on this & if it turns out one side has a big advantage I'm happy to make another version.

Size: 20x20
